Marc Rand
Managing Partner
Marc Rand is the Founder and Managing Partner of Community Capital Advisors, a national consultancy dedicated to empowering foundations and mission-driven organizations to align investment capital with community impact goals. He leads a team of seasoned practitioners supporting community, private, and corporate foundations in designing and implementing equity-focused investment strategies that complement traditional grantmaking.
Previously, Marc served as Program Director for Loans and Affordable Housing at Marin Community Foundation (MCF), where he invested over $50 million in local nonprofit initiatives over 12 years—achieving a remarkable 0% default rate. At MCF, he launched and managed one of the first community foundation loan funds in the country, pioneering a donor development strategy tied to impact investing and helping scale loan capital from $5 million to $25 million.
Marc also manages American Nonprofits, a certified Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) that provides bridge loans to smaller organizations—typically BIPOC-led and serving, with less than $3 million in revenue.
Earlier in his career, Marc served in the Peace Corps in Romania, where he led the development of five credit unions, and began his professional journey in international banking. He has also played leadership roles in community finance, serving six years as a board member, including two as Board Chair, for Opportunity Fund, a successful CDFI microloan organization supporting small businesses with assets exceeding $75 million.
Beyond his professional work, Marc is passionate about exploring cultures and has visited more than 100 countries, a lifelong pursuit that continues to shape his perspective and values.
